Hochul Responds to Savage Illegal Migrant Attack on NYPD

(FeaturedHeadlines.com) – Following an attack on New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers by a group of illegal immigrants, New York Governor Kathy Hochul is calling on prosecutors to look into the incident. The attack on the pair of NYPD officers comes amid a broader national debate on border security and immigration policies due to an influx of illegal entries into the United States under the Biden Administration.

The group of illegal immigrants attacked two NYPD officers, who told the group to move along instead of loitering in the street. The officers suffered minor injuries as a result of the attack, including body bruising and facial lacerations.

Footage of the January 27 attack went viral, compelling Hochul to comment on the case publicly. Hochul said that she hopes prosecutors and judges “do the right thing” and called on investigators to look into the attack.

Police arrested several illegal immigrants allegedly linked to the attack but released them without bail. New York City is a “sanctuary” jurisdiction that refuses to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. However, the policy does not prevent the prosecution of violent felonies, according to former Manhattan prosecutor Michale Bachner.

More than 150,000 illegal immigrants have made their way to New York City since 2022, prompting Hochul and New York City Mayor Eric Adams to call on the Biden administration to address the issue. The city projects that illegal immigrants will cost taxpayers $12 billion over the course of three years.

However, the illegal immigrants linked to the attack on the pair of NYPD officers may no longer be in the city. Four of the suspects reportedly fled to California with the help of a nonprofit group that transports migrants out of New York City.

The illegal immigrants purportedly provided fake names to the group. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said that the court is not aware of the suspects’ current whereabouts but that they are obligated to return to the court on their scheduled dates.

Considering the lack of respect shown for the attacked law enforcement officers, it seems unlikely that the suspects would respect the court enough to return to face justice.
