Lauren Boebert Cooks Up New Excuses to Explain Sudden District Shift

(FeaturedHeadlines.com) – US Congresswoman Lauren Boebert will be seeking reelection to the House of Representatives in 2024 — but not in her current district. On December 27, Boebert announced that she would run for office in a neighboring Colorado district, citing the influence of Hollywood celebrities in her decision.

Boebert is now seeking to represent Colorado’s 4th Congressional District—a seat to be left vacant by Congressman Ken Buck, who has said he will not seek reelection in 2024. The district is seen as safer for Republican candidates than the 3rd Congressional District, which Boebert won by only 546 votes in 2022.

Boebert made the district switch due to influxes of campaign donations to Democratic candidate Adam Frisch by Hollywood elites. Specifically, Boebert pointed to donations from singer Barbara Streisand and actor Ryan Reynolds.

“We have to shut down the Hollywood elites who are trying to buy my current district,” Boebert said during an interview with former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

Streisand gave Frisch’s campaign $1,000, and Reynolds contributed $1,500, according to Federal Election Commission records. The two celebrities’ donations account for approximately 0.03% of Frisch’s overall fundraising.

Frisch’s campaign has raised $7.7 million, whereas Boebert’s has raised just $2.4 million. However, Boebert’s switch to Colorado’s 4th Congressional District gives her an edge outside of campaign fundraising.

The 4th Congressional District favored Donald Trump by 19 percentage points in the 2020 presidential election; in comparison, the 3rd Congressional District favored Trump by eight percentage points. Moreover, District 4 has a higher proportion of registered Republican voters, Bachelor’s degree holders, and non-Hispanic whites than District 3. District 4 also has the highest median household income of any Colorado congressional district.

Boebert’s switch to District 4 leaves the Republican Party with a chance to nominate a new contender to face off with Frisch in a fresh matchup. Nevertheless, any Republican candidate will still have to contend with the influence of Hollywood elites who back Frisch, although without Boebert’s political baggage.
