(FeaturedHeadlines.com) – Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has launched a scathing attack on the Biden administration, accusing it of prioritizing illegal immigrants over American veterans and shockingly misallocating taxpayer funds. In a letter addressed to Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Denis McDonough, Blackburn demanded immediate transparency regarding the alleged resource diversion, raising serious concerns about the administration’s commitment to supporting those who served the nation.
Blackburn’s letter stems from reports suggesting that taxpayers covered nearly $95 million in medical expenses for illegal aliens in federal custody in Fiscal Year 2022 alone. Blackburn asserts that these funds should have supported veterans who courageously served America. Data shows that ICE’s healthcare arm budgeted over $74 million for the VA’s contractor to assist with outside referrals and medical claims processing for illegal aliens, further supporting Blackburn’s claim.
The contrast between the administration’s handling of illegal alien healthcare and the dire situation faced by veterans is striking. Currently, over a million veterans are stuck in bureaucratic limbo, with their claims languishing for months and even years. The VA’s own data paints a grim picture, with the average wait time for claim processing exceeding five months and a backlog that is only expected to worsen.
In her letter, Blackburn stated that the VA was established to support those who have served and protected America. She expressed concern that senior VA officials seemed to have placed these veterans below the flood of illegal immigrants crossing the porous border. This statement reflects the growing outrage among Republicans, who consider the alleged diversion of resources an unacceptable betrayal of American heroes.
Blackburn’s letter goes beyond accusations, demanding clear answers from the VA. She seeks details on the total amount of taxpayer dollars diverted to illegal aliens, whether the administration issued specific directives to prioritize their care over veterans, and the legal basis for such a transfer of resources.
The Senator’s actions are not isolated. In December, Representatives Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and Mike Bost (R-IL) introduced the “No VA Resources for Illegal Aliens Act” to prevent the VA from using its resources to provide healthcare to illegal immigrants. The bill garnered immediate bipartisan support, with Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Scott Franklin (R-FL), and Jack Bergman (R-MI) co-sponsoring it in the House alongside Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Blackburn in the Senate.
