( – Tyler Jay Boebert, the 18-year-old son of controversial Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, was arrested on Tuesday, February 27, by law enforcement on a variety of charges. This development adds another layer of complexity to the Boebert family’s life as Rep. Lauren Boebert prepares for re-election in a new district.

Rifle police revealed that Tyler was arrested in connection to recent increase in vehicle break-ins and property thefts in the area. According to arrest records from the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, the congresswoman’s son faces a total of 22 charges, including multiple counts of possessing stolen identification documents, conspiracy to commit a felony, and various misdemeanors such as enabling a minor’s misconduct, theft under $300 and trespassing. Notably, Colorado law classifies conspiracy and possessing more than two stolen ID documents as felonies.

However, citing the ongoing investigation, the Rifle Police Department declined to provide further details. As of this writing, Rep. Boebert has yet to respond to requests for comment.

This latest arrest marks another chapter in the Boebert family’s turbulent year. In January, Boebert’s former husband, Jayson Boebert, faced charges stemming from an altercation with both his son and the congresswoman herself at a restaurant in Silt, Colorado. The charges included obstructing law enforcement, trespassing, assault, and disorderly conduct.

While Rep. Boebert was initially investigated following accusations of physical assault by Jayson – authorities later dismissed all allegations due to a lack of concrete evidence. Boebert subsequently obtained a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband.

This family turmoil coincides with the congresswoman’s bid for re-election in a different district. Elected to represent Colorado’s 3rd congressional district in 2020 (a historically Republican stronghold) – Rep. Boebert faced a tight race in 2022, narrowly defeating Democratic challenger Adam Frisch by fewer votes.

Moreover, in December 2023, she announced her intention to run in Colorado’s 4th district – a safer Republican seat vacated by retiring Representative Ken Buck. Rep. Boebert cited personal reasons for the move, partially attributing her decision to recent family challenges and blaming “Hollywood elites” for alleged interference in the 2022 elections.
