US Senator Suffers Heartbreaking Loss

( – Bobbi Barrasso, a passionate advocate for numerous causes, a devoted wife and mother, and a pillar of the Wyoming community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday night, January 24th, after a two-year battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. She was 70 years old at the time of her death.

Senator John Barrasso, her husband of 15 years and the third-ranking Republican in the Senate, shared the heartbreaking news in a statement on Thursday. He spoke of Bobbi’s courageous fight against cancer and her lasting peace. He emphasized that, beyond being a devoted wife and mother, Bobbi was a leader, a fierce advocate for Wyoming, and a friend to all.

Bobbi Barrasso left an undeniable mark on her beloved state throughout her life. A Wyoming native and breast cancer survivor herself, she became a vocal advocate for early detection and treatment, lending her voice to initiatives like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Komen Wyoming. Her influence extended far beyond healthcare; she also advocated for suicide prevention, historic preservation, and support for survivors of child abuse.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell expressed his condolences, noting that Bobbi’s decades of dedicated advocacy for many worthy causes had demonstrably improved her home state. He commended her tireless efforts in raising awareness about breast cancer and her ability to inspire action on various issues across both state and federal levels.

Furthermore, colleagues from both sides of the aisle shared their grief and cherished memories of Bobbi. Senator Cynthia Lummis, her fellow Wyoming Republican, recounted Bobbi’s fierce love for her family and her beloved Wyoming, to which she devoted herself tirelessly throughout her life. Lummis added that Bobbi was her friend and colleague and a radiant light in their Wyoming community.

Rep. Harriet Hageman shared the sentiment, describing Bobbi as someone who always exuded warmth to everyone, welcoming them with a big smile and kind words. Hageman expressed her deepest condolences to Bobbi’s entire family.

Senator Barrasso, their daughter Hadley, stepchildren Peter and Emma, and her younger brother Mike grieve her passing together.
