In July 2023, a bag of cocaine was discovered in a West Wing locker, coinciding with President Biden and his family’s stay at Camp David. Donald Trump publicly suggested, “either Joe or Hunter” could be behind the incident, having fueled existing tensions between him and the Biden administration. The site of discovery, described by Trump as “stone cold, wiped dry,” lacked fingerprints, complicating any direct accusations.
The investigation faced obstacles when the House Oversight Committee’s efforts were reportedly hampered by the Secret Service’s actions. Chairman James Comer responded by ending the probe, citing the destruction of the cocaine bag shortly after its discovery and alleged interference from the Secret Service.
Comer expressed frustration, stating, “I had to abandon the probe I led into the cocaine found at the Biden White House because the Secret Service destroyed the little plastic bag that contained the cocaine a few days after it was discovered.”

Despite the gravity of the situation, the Secret Service concluded their investigation after 11 days. They cited insufficient physical evidence, as the FBI’s forensic testing did not identify any fingerprints or adequate DNA. “That was such a terrible thing because, you know, those bins are very loaded up with … they’re not clean, and they have hundreds and even thousands of fingerprints,” said Trump, referring to where the cocaine was found – the lockers.
A “partial hit” on DNA raised more questions than answers. The controversial nature of the incident led to a brief evacuation and involvement of a hazmat team from the DC Fire Department.
